Description: A decade ago a fledgling company of thirteen dancers took the stage for the first time In Concert With Tom Grant.

The years between have seen a multitude of changes in faces, places and spaces! However, much is the same: the rigorous training; the exposure to brilliant professional choreography; and the passion and enthusiasm of the dancers who perform. This year is no exception as Artistic Director Julane Stites celebrates A Decade of Dance West.

The varied program recalls the past, with tributes to Broadway, Gershwin, the Far East and the return of Gretchen Spiro\’s Beneath the Gathering Cloud. The company ventures way into the future with Ms. Stite\’s and Tito Reyes new collaboration of Last Dancer Standing, and revisits the company’s tour to Japan in 2000 with Hirotani Blues. Look forward to another thought-provoking Asian-inspired work from Les Watanabe and a sultry Night in Tunisia by Terry Brock. Also new this year is Pat Debenham\’s hilarious Under Penalty of Law. Other artists whose work is being presented are Gretta Murray-Marchek, Jason Davis, Randy Davis, David Ward and Heather Cornell.

Reanna McCurdy: DW 2004-2006

Reanna is a 2004 – 2006 Dance West alum currently attending the University of Oregon. Reanna is receiving a Bachelor of Arts in dance focusing on choreography, as well as a double minor in American Sign Language and Business. She is also currently in the company Dance Africa touring through out the north west. After Graduation she plans on applying to graduate school around the country, and getting her master’s in Choreography.

Chenise Crockett: DW 2007-2008

Chenise currently attends Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Oregon. She majors in dance, going for a BA in dance. Chenise hopes to become an apprentice for Rainbow Dance Theater (the professional dance company based at WOU) within the next couple years.
